Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Determine installation requirements
  • Identify the scope of works by analysing contract documentation
  • Determine glazing installation requirements and timing in consultation with principal contractors, architects and engineers
  • Determine and document internal and external human, physical and financial resource requirements according to the scope of works
  • Identify and document site requirements and limitations
  • Develop an installation schedule to meet timeframes, sequence operations and allocate responsibilities in consultation with other building trades and contractors
  • Define the critical path for the installation according to the installation schedule
  • Organise the supply of resources from internal or external sources and record supply details
  • Develop installation site and safety plans to coordinate with other building trades and contractors
  • Obtain permits within the required time frames
  • Monitor project time frames, and adjust them if necessary to account for other construction activity
       
Element: Coordinate delivery and start-up
  • Check and supervise onsite plant delivery and placement against the installation schedule and site and safety plans
  • Schedule and monitor onsite human resource requirements according to the installation schedule, the scope of role and workplace procedures
  • Support the effective coordination of installation activity through engagement with the construction work supervisor and other tradespeople
       
Element: Coordinate on-site installation
  • Monitor the quality and safety of work through ongoing communication with key site stakeholders and physical site inspections
  • Monitor the work and performance of subcontracted plant operators and staff against agreed requirements
  • Prepare site reports of supervisory inspections with any variation requests or requirements and communicate them to the appropriate people
  • Complete administrative processes to meet regulatory and organisational requirements
       
Element: Manage quality compliance
  • Inspect and monitor site checklists, detailing specific items at appropriate stages
  • Use industry and workplace quality manuals and procedures in managing the quality process with all quality requirements communicated to onsite personnel
  • Check work against contractual quality standards and organise and check any required rectifications for completion
  • Arrange and accurately document regulatory inspections of the completed installation
  • Accurately complete final contract documentation according to job requirements and communicate to relevant personnel

Assessment Tasks
